Thanks so much for the tips on setting a routine. While I totally agree with the routines, your example schedules should include something that is typical with two working parents. Your schedule here assumes that someone is at home. Not cool.

We have used the same routines all his life, adjusting for age appropriateness. But still, every morning, homework time and bed time comes with meltdowns, and he is unable to complete any tasks on his own. We have both rewards and consequences in place, but neither work. Working parents who work from or otherwise cannot adjust to such routine.
The routine would start at 6pm, if there is no sport practice. When one has three children, their needs are different and they need different accommodations.

The routine sounds great, yet not feasible. We do have routines in place, but Randomly something comes up that dismantles the routine …. Sounds great…. My ADHD is as bad — or worse — than my two kids. I can barely enforce a routine on myself, how the hell can I impose one on them?

To establish a homework routine that will improve productivity and increase academic achievement: Enforce a consistent start time. This will help your child build a homework habit. Stay close to your child. Many children with ADHD concentrate better when an adult works with them or is nearby. Take breaks. Distractibility, restlessness, difficulty maintaining concentration, and low frustration tolerance — all typical of ADHD — almost guarantee mental fatigue and boredom.
Frequent short breaks, during which the child is allowed to move around, can help. Have fun afterward. Your child is more likely to apply herself to homework when she knows that a fun activity, such as playing a game or watching TV, will follow. They may help anxious kids learn how to navigate friendships more easily.
For kids who struggle with striking up conversations with others, Galanti suggests games that promote structured opportunities for speech such as Guess Who or Battleship.
